Guwahati: May 31: The Disaster Management Cell of Beltola College observed the World Anti-Tobacco Day on 31st May, 2022 within and outside the campus. In connection with the Day, the Cell organised an awareness programme on “Save the Environment”. Many faculty members, Non-Teaching staff and a host of students took part in the programme. The programme started at 12:00 noon with the inaugural speech of Himangshu Das, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics. The Cell, under the guidance of Kamaruj Jaman, (Assistant Professor, Department of English) Dr. Lina Deka, (Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science) some teaching and non-teaching staff made an Awareness Rally outside the campus specially in the front portion of neighbouring educational institutions. The participants attempted to make the public aware of the threat of tobacco consumption. The participants took pledge not to consume tobacco in their entire life. Throughout the programme the Cell focused on the harmful consequences of consumption of Tobacco products and how we can safeguard ourselves from this Poison. The programme came to a close at 02:00 pm.
