Hon’ble Minister, Education, Dr. Noni Gopal Mahanta Visits Beltola College on 5 January 2023


Guwahati, 5 January 2023: Following the B+ accreditation on NAAC assessment which is the highest grade acquired among any city college in the first cycle, the Beltola College authorities has braced up to work together to meet the observation of the Peer Team handed to the college authority in the concluding meeting on November 4,2022. A meeting in this aspect was planned and arranged on January 4 as per convenience of Adviser to Hon’ble Minister, Education, Dr. Noni Gopal Mahanta. Dr. Sanjiv Narayan, Managing Director, Prag Channel, and Member, Governing Body of the College played a key role in making it happen at short notice. Ms. Chinmoyee Talukdar, AES and Deputy Director, Directorate of Higher education also attended the  meeting.

The adviser expressed great satisfaction at the clean and serene ambience of the institution and lauded team Beltola College for the commendable feat with minimum infrastructure, staff and support persons. He also gave a very positive response to the possibility of allowing a science stream in this college lying on the precinct of the city catering to majority rural students from far flung and adjoining remote regions apart from neighbouring States like Meghalaya, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram etc. Dr. Mahanta exhorted the team to work with renewed zeal to score in all fronts in the next cycle and expressed satisfaction at the early preparation for that. Dr. Mahanta kept the packed audience comprising of students, alumni, guardians and guardians of alumni and local people and well wishers enthralled with  his amazing oratory skills citing many live examples necessity of preparedness of challenges to be faced in real life and how the institutions and teachers therein can chip in with no traditional methods. Dr. Mahanta also took the opportunity to mention the Gurukul method where everyone including the royal scions were taught every art of life right from cooking cleaning agriculture practices even seeking alms then to the art of fighting administration leadership skill – every life skill to become a complete person that is seen to be lacking in present style for which the elaborate National Education Policy is being undertaken by the present government. He assured all possible help for the college from the administration. It was followed by a brief speech by Dr. Sanjib Narain  who said common sense and confidence is the key for success and whatever he has achieved personally is not backed by any Management studies and expressed the need to be very strict in maintaining cleanliness.

The guests were welcomed by the co-ordinator, IQAC, Ms. Rashmirekha Hazarika. Principal Dr. Ajit Borkotoky expressed the need for a girls and boys hostel, lack of sanctioned library staff, indoor games facilities etc that were also pointed by the NAAC Peer Team. Prof. Bhagwat Pran Duara, Gauhati University and  President Governing Body  also reiterated the need of a strong teaching and non-teaching staff for better performance. Ms. Chinmoyee Talukdar also spoke on a very positive note and said that it had been a nice experience on her part to be present during the visit of NAAC Peer Team and observed the dedication of the persons involved.   Ms. Rashmirekha Hazarika, co-ordinator IQAC conducted the meeting and Pankaj Kumar Kalita, Assistant co-ordinator offered Vote of Thanks.
