A Report on the celebration of ‘INDEPENDENCE DAY’

As part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav campaign Beltola College started pre-celebration of the upcoming Independence Day on 9th August, 2023 with great enthusiasm and spirit of nationalism by all the students and teachers of the college. As a culminating event of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ Beltola College launched “Meri Maati Mera Desh” campaign by distributing leaflets to the students and an awareness programme was held with an aim to promote the spirit of patriotism among the students and further highlighting the very significance of preserving our national resources and nurturing a sense of pride in our nation. The students in turn shared the leaflets with their parents and guardians .With this little initiative, Beltola College kicked off the event.

                        Beltola College continued its pre-celebration of the upcoming Independence Day on 10th August, 2023 with great enthusiasm and vigour shown by all the students and teachers of the college. A special assembly dedicated to the event was held where students, teachers and local community people of Bongaon area actively participated. Beltola College took a proud march forward by conducting a collective “ Panch Pran Pledge “ event within the college premises . This significant initiative marks a noteworthy step in nurturing a sense of patriotism among the students.

Beltola College continued its pre-celebration of the upcoming Independence Day on 14th August, 2023 with great spirit of nationalism and active participation of all the students, teachers and other non-teaching staffs of the college. Under the inspiring guidance of Dr. Ajit Borkotoky, Principal of Beltola College, a special discussion programme dedicated to ‘Unsung Heroes of Freedom Struggle ‘was held where the chief spokesperson for the programme was Mr.Himadree Kumar Sarma, an Assistant Professor from the Department of History. In his speech, Mr. Sarma had focussed on the life of some unsung freedom fighters from Assam, namely, Sonaram Chutia, Debeswar Doloi, Bidyawati Gogoi, Chakradhar Bhuyan, Biju Bauri, and Bipin Pal Das whose contributions in the Indian Independence is an undeniable fact. This discussion enlightened the students about the great sacrifice of the freedom fighters and of India’s glorious past.

On the 15th of August 2023, Beltola College started its celebration of Independence Day in the presence of a great number of students, teachers and other non-teaching staffs of the college. The students cleaned the campus and decorated the college with rangolis, flowers and earthen lamps. The celebration started at around 7.30 am with the hoisting of the Indian National Flag by Dr. Ajit Borkotoky, Principal of Beltola College. This was followed by the Rashtra Gaan sung by all present on the occasion. After that Dr. Borkotoky offered a highly spirited speech motivating everyone present and urged everyone to show deep respect to the Nation, preservation of its valuable resources and paying tribute to the National Heroes. After that a few students sang patriotic songs and others enjoyed their performances. The celebration ended with light refreshments for all present. Principal of the college, Dr. Borkotoky thanked everyone for their active participation.
